The Why.

No one prepares you for what life really is about and you don’t know what to expect or how to handle it until it is right at your doorstep. You are also never given more than you can handle. Needless to say going through a divorce, loosing my Mom who was my best friend and watching her going through what she did, on top of taking over a newly acquired community going through a multi-million dollar renovation while back-filling my old position really tested me over the last year or so.  Through it all I felt defeated and as though I was treading water barely staying afloat thinking I would be a single crazy cat lady for the rest of my life, but my Mom had a better plan. I am a firm believer in signs and that everything happens for a reason. Had I not gone through the chaos, I would not be where I am at today and appreciate the big and little things in life like I do.

As I embark (or re-embark) this blog I thought I would share the why behind the revamping and reviving. After working in property management for almost 8 years, I gave my 2 weeks notice. It was a rough and well thought out decision and something I never thought would happen or even thought about in general.

Maybe I should back up a little…

Online dating…after ending my marriage, I took the plunge into online dating. Let me tell you, it was quite the learning experience. I never in a million years thought I would actually find someone this way, but figured it was a good start to get myself back out in the dating world after being removed from it for such a long time! Like I said before, my mom had a better and bigger plan for me and it just so happened that I met and fell in love with my person. It was a little rocky in the beginning, but there was something about him that intrigued me. It’s been a somewhat fast moving relationship, but I believe it is true, when you know you know. I will spare the details of the rocky beginning 😉 Anywho, a weekend away in Lake Chelan is when it all changed.

Fast forward slightly- I remember my Mom telling me numerous times growing up that at one point someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and my response was a mom. That dream is finally coming true. After we found out we were pregnant I decided to take a leap of faith and put in my 2 weeks to spend time with my Dad before he leaves for The Clipper Around The World Race and live life before our little bundle of joy arrives.

When making this decision I was so worried about what I was going to do and that I needed sometime to do on a regular basis that is when I ran across this blog I started years ago. As I sit here on my last official day with the company who was my family and my home, I am going out on yet another ledge! So, here goes nothing, something, or everything!

Cheers to a New Chapter

It has been a minute (more like a few years) since I started this blog and stayed consistent with it, but I am bringing it back! I figured this would be a great platform to share my past, present and future adventures, recipes, stories, hacks, tricks, tips, and well life in a nutshell! I have been asked by many people about recipes I’ve made and posted on social media, along with ways to stay motivated with working out, and staying positive among many other things, so I figure why not bring this back to life and share!

So, cheers to a new chapter!

Gold, gold, & more…GOLD….

Yes….gold….wait GOLD?! Oh no….for everyone who knows me I CANNOT stand GOLD! I have no clue why, or what started this hatred for gold for so many years, but whatever it was seems to have lifted. Maybe age plays a key role? Who knows! I blame the gorgeous Michael Kors bag I purchased with gold accents (fav bag for sure), anywho…on to gold…I wanted to make a statement in my bathroom. Something I had never seen before, something that popped, one of those double take reactions you see in the movies! I think I succeeded since I still have to do a double take, more of a “what was I thinking!?”

So I began to think, I wanted a sophisticated bathroom, what comes to mind when you see that word? Yep, your right GOLD! There is is again! When I bought my condo the walls were a (in my opinion) horrendous desert color scheme of burgundy and an odd orange, this does not fit my style so it HAD to go!

Previous colors;

Yep….not to my choosing!

So my other bone to pick with gold is who knew there were so many different shades! So I had to make sure whatever I used matched the rest of my colors that I couldn’t change (flooring, countertops, backsplash, etc) Which brings me to this….

Yep….that is a wine bottle wrapper…true story! Found my paint sample!

So after the years of hatred I had towards gold…the final product turned out pretty amazing!

Did I mention how spendy this gold paint can be?!

Here we go!!

It took about 2-3 coats to get a good solid color;

But it turned out amazing!

I just love these towels! They really tie in the colors, and you can forget about my scentsy!

Of course this is still a work in progress, but one of my favorite “final” touches is this;
